Removable Steering Wheel

A very good way to protect your Defender is to remove the steering wheel as that is visible. However, the best way is to remove the steering wheel and then fit the Optimill swivel lock as this restricts the use of another wheel or tools to turn the steering. It also means you can leave your steering wheel in the Defender and not have to carry it around. The Optimill swivel lock is a bright colour so helps to act as a deterrent to potential thieves.  The Optimill swivel lock can only be used with the Optimill quick release steering boss.

We stock both the Optimill quick release steering boss and the swivel lock, as well as a dock for the swivel lock. We also stock a range of high quality Moto-Lita steering wheels to fit the Optimill quick release and slimline steering bosses.

Bomb Proof Defender Door Hinge Guards

The theft of Defender doors is becoming more common as the cost of new has risen and good second hand have become hard to find. The bomb proof hinge guards are a good solution to this problem as they stop the doors being removed by simply undoing the bolts that secure the door hinge to the bulkhead and B pillar. Included in the kit are bright stickers for the door windows to alert thieves that your doors are not easy to steel, you value your Defender and you may have more devices fitted to it.

The bomb proof hinge guards are made to exact specifications and will fit all Defenders. They are easy to fit and made from 2mm high grade 304 stainless steel.

Datatag

The Datatag kit comprises of four separate security items all designed to make criminals think twice about steeling your Land Rover.

The most important item is an electronic transponder which is designed to be hidden in your Land Rover. This small transponder has a unique code that can be read by a handheld scanner used by the UK Police.

The kit also includes Datadot microdots and etching stencils that allow you to mark all the major components of your Land Rover with a unique code.

The tamper proof labels included in the kit are to be placed in a prominent place to ward off anyone thinking of steeling your Land Rover.  

You have to register your details with Datatag so they can be added on their system, there is no fee for this.

The International Security Register (ISR) system has proved successful in deterring and detecting theft and fraud for over 30 years. It works on the principle that if a vehicles windows and parts are marked using robust techniques and details are recorded on a secure database, supported by a 24/7 verification service, criminals steeling marked vehicles run the increased risk of being caught and prosecuted so are less likely to steel a marked vehicle. The Skytag device is a very small unit designed to be hidden in the vehicle. Self installation enhances the covert nature of the product as everyone will place it in a different location. If you would rather not install it yourself, we can fit it for you.

The Skytag is smaller than a computer mouse and contains a GPS chip that can pinpoint its location anywhere on the planet to within 5 metres. The Skytag also contains a module that communicates its position to Skydag via the GPRS data network so they know where your Land Rover is in the event of a theft.

The Skytag is also waterproof to IP65 and has an inbuilt backup battery that will last for 3 days after the Land Rovers battery has been disconnected. The Skytag will send an alert if the Land Rovers battery is disconnected or running out of charge.

Skytag offer three different packages. The fee is paid direct to Skytag.
  • Standard Tracking – *£6.99 per month. Initial 3 months included. Standard tracking includes:- Battery disconnect alert, tracker battery low alert, monthly health check and email notification, worldwide coverage and 24 hour crime line with police liaison to recover your Land Rover.
  • Active Monitoring – *£10.99 per month. Everything you get with Standard Tracking including the 3 months free, plus LeisureSafe and NighsSafe. LeisureSafe is designed for vehicles which are only used 2 or 3 times a week. LeisureSafe is fully automatic with no requirement to remember to turn it on or off. A bespoke zone is created where your Land Rover is normally stored so if it moves out of this zone during the protected hours an alert is sent to your mobile phone, your land line and a text and email are also sent to you. NightSafe is designed for everyday use Land Rovers where you need protection during vulnerable hours and is similar to LeisureSafe.
  • Live Tracking – *£12.99 per month. Live Tracking has all the above features with the addition of user designed zones, speed alerts and the ability to log in from any internet enabled device and see the vehicle updates every 5 minutes, with the ignition wired installation or, every 20 minutes with the standard fitting. Liveview service includes unlimited email alerts and 10 phone alerts per week.

Security Bonnet Hinges

We stock two makes of security bonnet hinges; Optimill and DDE. They are both made to a very high standard from billet aluminium and stop the bonnet of your Defender being removed easily without the use of tools. They also offer up a visible deterrent to show that you value your Defender and may have other devices in place. We also recommend you fit the bonnet release cable guards.

Bonnet Release Cable Guards

These guards are designed to make access to the bonnet cable harder, as thefts of Defender bonnets and engine components are on the rise. We recommend fitting security bonnet hinges as well.

X-Column Lock

The X-Column lock helps to prevent the theft on your Land Rover Defender by stopping the one thing that is most common to virtually all stolen Land Rovers; that is, the steering column lock has been broken, normally by removing the lock barrel as this is surprisingly quick and easy to do. The X-Column Lock offers a solution to this by protecting the end of the barrel. The X-Column Lock fits all Defenders with a steering lock up to 2014 right or left hand drive.

Locking Wheel Nuts

Locking wheel nuts are a must for any Defender, especially when fitted with expensive alloy wheels, as they offer a good deterrent against theft. The ones we keep do not look out of place and are made to a high standard. They come in sets of five nuts, one key and a handy bag for the key.
